You know when you've had a bad day and all you want to do is be in your comfy bed or hug your mom or eat a chocolate bar? You know what those three things have in common? Comfort. Well, maybe chocolate isn't comforting to you, but fill in the blank with your favorite comfort food. There are days when we just need to be comforted. Simple as that.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5 says, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ." God can comfort us if we allow Him. There are times when I need to be comforted and instead of going to God in prayer, I sulk. However, when I go to God in prayer or read His word, I am sure to be comforted. No doubt. He wants to comfort us. We don't need our comfy bed, mom, or chocolate bar to be comforted, all we need is God.
In Him we find comfort.
Today's scripture for read-your-Bible-in-a-year plan is Acts 21-23.
